From a very early age, Kaz has been fascinated by mermaids and the ocean. Growing up in Tasmania fifteen minutes from the beach, she fell in love with our pristine beaches and coastlines — but a lifelong phobia of sharks kept her out of water past her waist. It wasn't until she decided to face her fears and take on a new challenge that she started researching freediving, and then discovered mermaiding.
Kaz has travelled extensively to the mainland and trained with some of Australia's top mermaid instructors and mermaid instructor trainers. She is thrilled to have made her own dreams come true by becoming not only Tasmania's first PADI Mermaid and professional mermaid performer, but also the first Mermaid Instructor on our beautiful island. She loves to share her passion for mermaid diving and the beauty of fluid, peaceful underwater movement — be it in the pool or the ocean.
Kaz also performs as a real live mermaid at community events, corporate events and birthday parties. As a primary school teacher with 17 years of experience and a degree in Performing Arts, she is highly skilled at working with children — and at creating the illusion for them that mermaids are real!
